LLM in AI and scRNA-seq in biology are similar in that they both deal with multidimensional spaces of hundreds or thousands of dimensions that are difficult for humans to imagine and try to find patterns and structures in them, whereas LLM uses “attention” to evaluate relationships between features, LLM uses “attention” to evaluate associations between features, but scRNA-seq probably does not have a mechanism to consider the meanings of these gene-gene associations. If something similar to “attention” is introduced in the future, single cell seq may evolve in a revolutionary way.

Stephanie’s comment: Happy New Year from the cozy living room of our new home! In late 2023, we moved out of our house to rebuild on the same property, spending the requisite 7 months in a nearby rental apartment. It was humbling and exciting to view the site on our routine morning walk, as we went from razing (the old home) to raising (the new roof). Our motivation was to live in an airtight structure with great insulation, solar panels, 21 st century quake resistance, and floor heating everywhere except minor closets.
The photo depicts us with the site manager (beside me) and our sales rep (beside Masaru) on official “house handover” day in June 2024. (Our housekeys are electronic, which is also interesting.)

Kye came home for the first time in a while from November to December 2024. He was home for three weeks in total, combining vacation and DX work. I heard that Elon Musk is against DX. When I observed Kye, I couldn’t really tell when he was working and when he was vacationing, so I understand Elon’s viewpoint. But even if someone works at the office, no one can tell if his or her brain is focused on the work project. I guess this is the challenge facing the DX era?
I tried to take a commemorative photo, but even now, he won't let me take a photo of him and just makes a funny face like when he was a child!

I asked ChatGPT's Sora to make a movie of a futuristic laboratory. It's amazing that it can create something so realistic, with a person who doesn't exist working in a room that doesn't exist, but I got used to it after five minutes. I think I'll be able to make myself the main character in a movie before long, but if it's too easy, then anyone will be able to make fake news, so some kind of restriction may be necessary. It's amazing how much progress we've made in such a short time, and how easily our brains adapt to new things once we've learned them.
